Katrina Kaif talks skincare, make-up, and her obsession with pink
Whether it’s those loose, auburn curls that accentuate her peaches-and-cream complexion, or her supple skin and perfectly toned body, Katrina Kaif ticks all the boxes when it comes fitness and beauty goals. As she launches the brand’s latest collection of tailor-made pink lipsticks, La Vie En Rose, the L’Oréal Paris ambassador shares her secrets with us:
What’s your favourite thing about La Vie En Rose?
I love the fact that it celebrates the beauty, confidence and magnificence of modern-day women. It is absolutely amazing to have a signature pink shade inspired by me. My shade, La Vie En Rose – Katrina’s Extraordinaire Mat Delicate Pink, is the perfect pink for women who have a similar skin tone as mine.
What does the colour pink mean to you?
Pink, to me, is a classic colour, it is timeless and works for every woman. No matter the occasion, age or skin tone, pink suits everyone and brings out an ethereal glow to one’s overall look.
How do you like to wear pink?
When it comes to beauty, I prefer pink lips. Fashion-wise, it depends on what I am wearing. Could be a bracelet, a dress or shoes.
What’s your skincare regimen like in the day?
We shouldn’t take our skin for granted, especially since it is exposed to dirt, heat and pollution daily. Since I need to use a lot of make-up products during work and otherwise, I always ensure that I use a good moisturiser base. Before stepping out of the house during the day, I apply a good sunscreen that keeps my skin hydrated and gives me the right amount of protection from the sun. If I’m at home, I always remove every speck of make-up, not just before retiring for the night but otherwise as well.
How do you let your skin relax at night?
I moisturise my skin well. Most importantly, I remember to keep smiling! By staying happy, your skin not only looks fresh but also feels great.
What’s the best way to detox?
Drink loads of water.
What’s your hair care routine?
As an actor, my hair gets exposed to various chemicals and serums. I make sure I oil my hair at least once a week and condition it regularly. Also, I include a lot of protein in my diet to make my hair look healthy. 3 make-up products you cannot live without A good lipstick, a kajal and mascara.
Your favourite red carpet look
Dewy skin, smoky eyes and delicate pink lips.
Who’s your beauty icon?
I find Penelope Cruz and Rekha very beautiful.
Tell us about your fitness routine?
I train with Yasmin Karachiwala. She understands my body type and works out a regimen that suits the requirement. For instance, if I were training for a song, there would be a lot of torso related work; if it is action, resistance and overall muscle building would be targetted. She also helps me plan out an appropriate diet to complement the workout. On a regular basis, my workout involves a lot of cardio. It is very important to keep your workout session fun and interesting. If not, the temptation to just not go to the gym can be huge.
One make-up look you’ll never try
I’m not sure… maybe yellow eyeshadow.
